Pedestrian Mobility Improvements
Partner: The Trust for Public Land
The project will provide critical pedestrian infrastructure on 2.4 miles of Herrick and Haddon Avenues, including 900 feet of new sidewalks, five new way-finding signs, 10 ADA ramps, 10 bicycle sharrows, and three high-visibility crosswalks on each avenue. The mobility hubs will offer bike infrastructure, bike parking, seating, way-finding signage, and public art.
These projects will reduce car travel emissions by making alternative mobility options safer and more convenient for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders.
- 10 Bicycle sharrows
- 900 ft of new sidewalk
- 3 Hi-visibility crosswalks
- 10 ADA ramps
Pacoima DASH e-Bus (LADOT)
Partner: LA Department of Transportation (LADOT)
Green Together Collaborative will electrify the DASH bus fleet that travels through Pacoima and Sun-Valley by introducing 14 new battery-electric buses and seven electric chargers. It will also increase the frequency of bus service with a new E-DASH route. This investment improves transit ridership, reduces emissions, and provides transit routes that better respond to the community’s needs. LADOT and Pacoima Beautiful held a community charette on June 18, 2024, to gather feedback on the DASH route. An updated map will be released soon.
- 14 New battery-electric buses
- 7 Electic chargers
EV Charger Stations
Partner: The Trust for Public Land
The Electric Vehicle Charging Station will fill a critical mobility gap, reduce traditional car emissions, and enable electric vehicles (EV) to become a practical transportation alternative for community members. Installing charging stations at centrally located intersections and business districts ensures that chargers are easily accessible to residents for their personal vehicles or future EV car share mobility needs.
- 3 Locations of EV charging stations
Single-Family Solar Installations
Partner: GRID Alternatives LA
GRID Alternatives will install approximately 669 kilowatts of solar photovoltaic systems on 175 single-family homes. This project will enhance local generation of renewable energy and lower energy costs for property owners. The installation project is also a part of GTC’s workforce development plan training activities that will create a pipeline of future local jobs and a thriving solar workforce in the Northeast Valley.
- 669 kilowatts of solar photovoltaic systems installed
- 175 single-family homes
Street Tree Planting
Partner: Los Angeles Conservation Corps
This Street Tree Planting project includes the planting of 1,700 new trees and a giveaway of 335 fruit trees. These new trees will shade nearby commercial and residential properties, reducing their AC usage while improving local air quality. Community members are invited to opt-into getting trees planted in their parkways or to participate in the fruit tree giveaway.
- 1,700 Trees planted
Workforce Development and Economic Opportunity Plan
Partners: GRID Alternatives LA, Los Angeles Conservation Corps
GRID Alternatives is helping area residents get a great start in the booming clean energy economy by offering solar installation basics training. They pay a living wage during training, and will hire at least 75% of those trained.
Los Angeles Conservation Corps (LACC) offers Pacoima and Sun Valley youth paid work experience on urban forestry projects and brownfield remediation job skills training that results in industry-recognized certifications that are valued by employers.
- GRID Solar Workforce Development has enrolled 86/96 trainees
- LACC Tree Planting has 36/50 trainees to date
Community Engagement Plan 1
Partner: Pacoima Beautiful
Community Engagement Plan 1 is aimed at ensuring ongoing community involvement in the Collaborative’s projects throughout the grant term via door-to-door knocking, quarterly forums, community charettes and educational programs.
- 4,242 Doors knocked
- 135 Community members engaged
Community Engagement Plan 2
Partner: Los Angeles Business Council
This project facilitates the development of Feed-in Tariff (FiT) solar projects on low-income, multi-family residential properties in the project area, with a goal of 8 MW. Project will use a community engagement strategy that includes: public workshops, social media, outreach to local Council offices, and ongoing conference calls to educate community members/local businesses on the FiT program.
- 8 FiT workshops
