Community Collaboration for a Cleaner, Safer Future

At Green Together Collaborative (GTC), community input is vital for creating effective and impactful changes for Pacoima and Sun Valley. Recently, two GTC members, the LA Department of Transportation (LADOT) and our community engagement lead, Pacoima Beautiful, hosted an event to gather feedback from residents about the routes for new battery-electric DASH buses. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to improve green transportation options in Pacoima and Sun Valley, which face unique challenges due to infrastructure and safety concerns.

Listening to Our Community
The event was an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts and ideas on how we can design the best and most convenient bus routes. We were thrilled to see so many community members come out and engage in meaningful discussions. Their feedback is invaluable; we were happy to have such a great turnout!

Here’s What We Learned:

  1. More Buses = Better Service for Our Community. Residents expressed a strong need for more public transportation options in our neighborhood. By adding this new DASH route with an all-electric fleet, we can enhance the overall efficiency and accessibility of our transit system, essential for those who rely on public transportation for their daily commutes.
  2. Electric Buses = Less Pollution, Cleaner Air. The shift to battery-electric buses was overwhelmingly supported. These buses produce zero emissions, significantly reducing air pollution in our neighborhoods. Cleaner air means a healthier environment for everyone, contributing to our residents’ well-being and our community’s sustainability.
  3. These Improvements = Safer and Convenient Commutes. Safety and convenience were top priorities for our attendees. Increased access and improved routes will lead to safer, more predictable commutes. Well-lit, accessible bus stops, and efficient routes are essential for ensuring that everyone feels safe and comfortable while traveling.

A Commitment to a Better Future

This event is just one example of how GTC works to create a safe, healthy, climate-resilient Pacoima and Sun Valley. We are dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by our communities and implementing solutions that have a lasting positive impact.

Escuchando a Nuestra Comunidad
